Student Information

To prepare you for your first day of class please purchase Celia blue scrubs. Please bring pen, paper, highlighter. etc. Face mask and remaining balance for class. Students may also bring snacks and or lunch. 

Phlebotomy:

For a student to be eligible to take the final certification exam they must meet the following prerequisites:

  1. Successfully completion of the phlebotomy training program

  2. Successful completion of 25 venipunctures (blood draws)

  3. Successful completion of 10 capillary sticks (finger sticks)

  4. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent

  5. Be 18 years of age or older

Students in a phlebotomy training program should expect to learn basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, HIPPA law, how to perform various blood collection methods including venipunctures and capillary sticks, the order of draw, contagions and infection control, OSHA safety procedures, quality specimen techniques, an introduction to the lab as well as common challenges that phlebotomists are faced with. 

Successful students will be prepared to enter the medical field as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) in workplaces such as hospitals, doctors' offices, labs, mobile collection companies, plasma centers, and blood banks.
